My Car Is Driving Me Crazy

Okay I have a problem. The car will not go directly to idle it will go to 1000 rpm then back up to 2500 then back down to 1000. It always happens after the car is warmed up. I dunno it hard to explain. Its like if I am coming to a stop it will idle until I almost get stopped then it shoots back up to like 2500-3000rpm and stays there until I 1) let off the brake and it will take about 5 seconds to go back down to normal or 2) tap the gas and it still take a second or two to go back down.

Anyone have any ideas its pissing me off badly. I want to figure this out before I do my motor swap and turbo shit.

Check if any hoses are loose around the intake manifold area. This happened to me before. If its not that try adjusting your idle.

Check the oxygen sensor.

I think the computer ignores signals from the O2 sensor until the car warms up. Once warm up is complete the computer references the O2 for the correct gas mix. If the sensor is out of range it will give you your idle problem (as well as others). If you get the service manual it will tell you how to check the computer for error codes. Good luck. :)

I have checked the hoses and all are fine they may however be clogged or something. I dont know exactly how to adjust the idle I read in the haynes that you have to di connect a p2 sensor or some shit and turn some screws. couldnt find them so I used the throttle cable. I had that set right after I got my license back and the car didnt do this but it had before. The 02 sensor may be the cause since I am burning so much goddamn oil. I also get code 1 when the car idles for a little bit... I dunno I am going to do a re swap on the motor and put my old one back in it and see what happens.

My car was doing the same thing when the coolant temp (TW) sensor went bad..changed it out and it fixed everything

a while back there was a really good thread about idle surging. basically it said to clean the IAC valve and the idle adjustment screw, as well as the throttle body butterfly. you should look that up.
