i have a 2003 pontiac grand am gt 3.4. About 5 days ago my change oil light came on and did not have time to do it at that point. Then 1 day later my service vehicle soon light came on, i thought it was due to the change oil light being on. Then yesterday i changed my oil and pushed the reset button in, let the light flash then held it in until the change oil light went out. But my service vehicle light stayed on, took it to AutoZone today and they put the scanner on it and the scanner did not show one thing wrong!! so i had him clear the code and the light stayed of for about 10 seconds then came right back on! is it a faulty issue or what?
thanx guys

There are two lights to pay attention to: Service Engine Soon, and Service Vehicle Soon......
The SES light, will set a code if there are engine driveability problems....Usually when the SVS light is on, more often than not, there is a light or DRL problem.......Turn your headlights on, and check the hi and lo beams.....

Yeah check the headlights. It's the main cause of CVS light. Happened to me on my 2002. And of course the driver side headlight was burned up.

wow!!! lmao!! i have a blown Headlight on the driver side!, never really new since i have not been driving my car at night and the auto lights kick on in the morning when its not really dark so i could never tell. Besides i also have the xenon hid in my fog lights so it makes it really hard to tell if you have a blown light lol.I had to order it on ebay since they do not sell the xenon hid lights in town. Got a set of them just in case it happens again lol. Hopefully be here thursday.
Thanx guys for the help, never even thought of to check the lights. First time having a car with a service vehicle soon light lol

Ok the new lights arrived today and that is not the problem :( . So i grabbed my test light and the light barely lights up!! now i have no idea where to begin to find the problem! there is some corrosion on the head light plug but i do not think that would effect my test light since i move it around to get a good connection.
Parking lights all work fine on that side and turn signal, just no headlight Hi or low beam.
any suggestions??

thinking about it last night, i think there may be a bad ground somewhere on that side, or possibly the corrosion that is at the plug went back a little into the wires and now not getting good current. What im gonna do after work is ground the test light at the battery and check the wires back about 3 inches from the plug and see what happens. If the same thing still occurs then there is a bad ground and i have no clue where that would be. Maybe by the headlight area somewhere on the inside by the fendor?

OK, my bad....what I should have said was, you have a headlight circuit problem, not necessarily a bad headlight...........Since it is just the driver's side, check the fuse for the HI/LO beams for the driver's side(each side has it's own fuse).....especially for corrosion at the fuse block.....
The ground for the left side, is the same for the right side and goes through the headlight switch, so that is not the problem......I think your problem is your socket.......
You have 4 wires, two orange(power), a pink(high beam ground) and dk blue(low beam ground)......turn low beams on manually....disconnect harness to driver's bulb.....attach your test light to one of the orange line contacts in harness(try the other orange one too) and to the dk blue contact....if dim, pierce each line about 3" back from the harness connector and attach the test light......if bright, bad socket......
If still dim, attach test light to each pierced orange line directly to ground on battery and see if bright.....can check ground by attaching test light to pierced dark blue line and positive terminal of battery......

nice!! thank you for the great info! i will check the fuse first tomorrow before i go any further, that is good news that both sides run on the same ground! also there is only 3 wires going to the plug, so i will check them after the fuse. Will let you know what i find out, im guessing its the socket also.

ok i got it fixed, first thing i did was check the fuse and the fuse was blown! so i replaced it with a new 15 amp fuse and the minute i turned my headlights on it popped again. So then i unhooked the harness plug that is going to the 2 ballast, then turned the lights back on and it did not pop, so since i have projection halo lights there is 4 head lights instead of the usual 2 (if your wondering), hi and low beam separate now.So next thing i did was unhook the ballast to the low beam and turn lights on and switched to high beam and worked fine. now i hooked the low beam ballast up and unhooked the high beam, once i turned them on the fuse popped again!! So all this damn work and come to find out the ballast for the low beam light is bad!! So for now what i did was unhook the high beam ballast and hooked the low beam plug to that ballast and ballast to the low beam light for now until i mail the bad one back to the company and they send me a new one free of charge.
Thanx again guys for the help!! im sure it would have been a longer process without some good info from you guys :)
