Air Suspension Question

Does anybody know the size of the air line that plugs into the dryer at the compressor? It looks to be larger than 1/8" and smaller than 1/4"... i.e.- metric. I forgot to measure it when I had it all apart yesterday. I ordered a new compressor and I want to install a T & schrader when I replace the compressor. Don't ask why. I'm not rational.

Update: The schrader valve was supposed to allow me to raise the car so my wife could drive it until the new compressor arrives. Went to Fastenal and bought a 5/32 push-connector x 1/8 NPT... tapped a brass 3/8 tube A/C schrader fitting to 1/8 NPT... connected the two... then took the car apart again. Well.... it's 3/16 tubing. Not 5/32. Anyways, I tried pressurizing the line with my compressor and it wouldn't take air... shocks would not pump up. Lesson learned. The electric control valves at the shocks must have to be activated as well. DUH. So now I just wait for the new compressor to arrive.

Update on the Update: Got to thinking... when the car starts, there is a 23 second window where the module tells the compressor to raise the car if it's sitting low... which it was. I pulled the line off the dryer (compressor) and used that 23 second window to pump up the shocks through the 3/16 OD tubing using my shop compressor. Worked like a charm. Now we can use the car until the new compressor arrives.

And to think, you could have installed Variable Rate Coil Springs (http://www.motorcarriageservice.com/ARStoCoil.htm) in less than 60 minutes and washed your hands of the entire RAS.

I like the idea with the schrader valve, you might be able to fix a flat tire too!

I am one of those weirdo's that likes the Air Suspension. Ha ha. Anyhow... I want to keep this car original. I have 4 Mustangs that I can play with.

I like the idea with the schrader valve, you might be able to fix a flat tire too!

It deflated over night... I forgot about the function where after you turn off the engine, the system tries to re-level the car. So... I pressurized it again (edit:with my shop compressor) and then turned off the switch in the trunk... it stayed pumped up this time.

Caution - Don't let the compressor run for than 20-seconds @ a time, or she can burn-up premature.

Anytime the compressor runs longer or more frequent, disable the switch in trunk + check your Air springs for leaks using soapy water.
