2008 GMC synthetic oil

hi i just bought a 2008 Sierra 1500, and i heard that switching to Mobil 1 synthetic is a better oil to use in the 5.3? the truck has 50,000 miles on it, anybody have any advice ? thanks for the help !! and does the 5.3 take 6 quarts of oil?

I have been running synthetic in mine since the first oil change. IMO I think it is a good choice regardless which engine.

It holds 7 quarts, not 6, and be prepared to add a quart every 3,000 miles between changes; best to buy two 5 quart bottles.
