Hello. i have a 97 chevy s10 that wont start, just turns but no start up. I have replaced the following., fuel pump, crank sensor, cam sensor, dist cap and rotor, spark plugs, and cables, fuel filter, new battery, ignition coil. have tested the ignition module three times, it came out good....truck was running fine. I am running out of ideas!!

Did you make sure you are getting spark to the plugs?? Pop a wire off and stick a diff plug in the end. Have someone watch when you crank it.

If you changed the rotor did you make sure you put it back the same direction??

You need to test your fuel pressure and see what it is at.

When you turn the key to run and don't ture it all the way to start does a light stay on that says security?

I am getting spark to all the plugs. I checked to see that i install the rotor right and it is on there correct....found out it only screws in one way. Tested for fuel pressure and getting 60lbs. When i turn key to on i get no security light....never had the light. I think it might be the PCM (computer). someone told me that if i been jump starting anyone.....and i did the night before the truck didnt want to start....they said that maybe that could have affected my computer....other car had a dead battery and we were jump starting it alot. What do you guys think?
Thanks.

Since you know you have spark, spray carb cleaner into the intake(I usually pull the temp sensor out of the snorkle, attach a tube to the nozzle, stick it in the hole and then cover the hole with a rag, so no air leak will throw off the MAF sensor).......then then try and start the vehicle.....if it starts and continues to run, fuel pressure is border line....if it just starts and runs for a few seconds, then continually spray while someone cranks.....if it runs as long as you spray, the injectors are not firing.....

Does this have PassLock? Has the vehicle been scanned for Security codes?

oh you mean the one under steering column. If it were bad would it still crank?

yeah it would still or still could crank.

Most of the time it goes bad you get a DTC set.

The 97 is known for going bad though.

When did this all start?? You said that you jumped someone and then right after that your car would not start?

Thanks everyone for input and ideas! Got it going yesterday! i took off the the spark plugs cleaned them good....sprayed inside all holes with WD40...installed them back on....also sprayed the inside intake. After some cranking it turn on!!! weird. maybe i had flooded it with carb spray or gasoline? Thanks again!

The ignition switch on the '97 is not under the steering column, it is behind the steering wheel on the same side as the lockset and positioned next to it going toward the front. The cable comes across under the steering wheel and down the left side of the column to a connector and the two are mated and held together with an 8mm bolt.

This was changed from the lockset that moved a rod down the column to activate the switch when GM put the air bag on the column.
