1997 Heater core replacement

So I have searched and found a few threads both here and other sites about heater core replacement. It seems there is not a definitive method of doing this.

Does one really have to remove the whole dash to get this done?

Does anyone have photos of how to do this job?

A copy of the FSM showing how this is done?

I would recomend a haynes manual for the job, it is very in depth. The HVAC module needs to come out to get to the heater core. To do that, the dash needs to come out.
