2001 Buick regal trunk will not open

My electronic trunk will not open unless I use the door key. I don't even hear the clicking sound. I have been having trouble with this for a while. Sometimes it would open and sometimes not. But now I get nothing.
No clicking even if I use the button in the glove box.

Anybody have any ideas what this might be?

It sounds like the solenoid has gone bad that activates the lock mechanism. Try putting power to it at the solenoid itself. It it operates correctly then check the wiring from the glove box button to the solenoid itself. It is possible that it is as simple as a bad button or contact in the glove box. Good Luck!

Disconnect the harness to the trunk release solenoid....attach a test light to the harness......press release button or use your RKE fob......if you have power, bad solenoid......if you don't, follow the harness back in the deck lid where it goes into the body....have found a few broken wires in the harness, due to flexing at that point....

It's mounted on the latch, look for the connector at the latch. Like TechII said, follow the wires back, around the passanger side hinge for the trunk lid, you will probably find an broken ground wire, maybe two.

Yes, the wiring may be in a loom or taped up......you will have to remove this to look at the wires for a break.....
