Whats wrong with my truck?????

Bought a 99' Ford 250 V10 about a month ago. Its got a superchip in it and its set to 87 octane. I plan on taking it out eventually but for now i have plugged it in and ran a diagnostic test on it. It gives me a reading that says that System Too Lean (bank 1) and System Too Lean (bank 2). I have a basic understanding of what an engine running to lean means but dont understand what i need to do to fix it. Also, this truck burns about a quart of oil about every week. I figure these two things have to do with eachother. The check engine light came on a few days ago and the truck is starting to run funny. It doesnt go through the gears at a smooth pace. What are your thoughts of what the heck could be wrong.
Thanks for Your Comments!

What code came up when check engine light came on??
Bank 1 and 2 mean that the side of the engine with the #1 cyl is bank one and bank 2 is the other side if the engine. So both sides are lean.

The oil that you are losing is not good. Are you burning smoke>?

The only thing i have to read code is the superchip monitor you plug in. and that told me it was running to lean. Im not burning smoke. and im using a valvoline next gen oil.

At a quart a week, if you are not blowing smoke, you are leaking oil, so it is probably a different problem than your lean condition. I couldn't say about the lean condition, but as long as you are going through so much oil, you ought to use cheap oil.

Look for a vacuum leak, does it run rough??? Get the codes read and post. How is gas mileage?

You might want to check the vacuum brake booster for vacuum leak. or hose from intake to brake booster.

I would also say vac leak. the truck will give it more gas if it is sucking in air from a vac leak to keep the gas/air mixture correct.

ok i will definately check that! im starting to think it might be a bad spark plug or wire because it doesnt run really rough but there is a little bit of a shake. what is your opinion on that?

if that was the case it should have a code for whatever cylinder is missing.

I would check rubber hoses for cracks or any hose that came off of something. check around valve covers and intake manifold. You can put a little transmission fluid or oil arount the valve covers and intake manifold and see if it sucks it in anywhere.
