Tcs off?

Recently I have had a couple of problems pop up on my T/A. The first is the TCS off light came on on my dash board as soon as I start my car. At first it was intermittent but now it is every time I start the vehicle.
Second, I have no power and my pedal will not go to the floor in a way like when my rear tires hit loose gravel and the traction control kicks in and the pedal pushes against your foot restricting you to accelerate.
Logically, I do not think these are related. If the TCS is off, I should be able to take the pedal to the floor as much as I want so I am a bit confused. Any help would be great.
