Slushbox question

Does anyone know how many litres of transmission fluid a 90 civic hatch holds? (Automatic transmission)
I'm bringing it in this week to have the fluid flushed/serviced and the guy said it will take about 16 litres of fluid and that the car actually holds about 12 litres.
12 litres seems to be a lot considering it takes only 1 quart to bring it from the "add" line to the "full" line.
Anyhow, just curious. :)

Um...a manual tranny takes 2.0 quarts (1.9 l) - a slushbox might take 3 but not much more than that.

Just an FYI, here is what they had to say:
==
The dry fill capacity of most Honda automatic transmissions, is approx. 6-8 liters. When we flush transmissions we run an extra 4 liters thru the
transmission (as recommended by the manufacturer of our flush machine) this is why Mike stated 12-16, in your case it would be 11 liters @ $2.95 a liter.

Sounds legit to me.

Yes, for automatic transmission flushes, they run extra tranny fluid through, just to make sure they get everything. And the Honda tranny's flushes cost alot, because it takes synthetic. I know at my store the synthetic tranny flush runs about 100 bucks, while the normal tranny flush runs around 75 bucks.

Yeah it's going to cost 99.99 for the flush + cost of tranny fluid.

:eek: Plus the cost of fluid? thats messed up yo. I have worked at 2 different oil changing places that does tranny flushs, and neither one added the cost of fluid on top of the current charge.

Hmm I'll check around to see if any of the other places around here do that.
Thanks for the info.
