1/24 Fujimi Ferrari F430 Challenge

Hi all!

This is my latest model, hope you like it. It's a Fujimi kit with a Hobby Design PE set and KA Models decals.

May I ask what kind of camera and lens do you use to shot these photos ?
I use a Sony A100 DSLR, and most of these pics were taken with a Minolta 24/2.8 lens. I took the side shot with a Minolta 135/2.8, and for the close-ups I used a Minolta 35-70/4, which has a macro mode.

How did you do these awesome pics??
It's all about the lighting. I use an external flash in wireless mode with a Lumiquest softbox, and 1 or 2 reflectors (plain white paper) to fill the shadows. The camera is always mounted on a tripod. My lighting solution is not perfect, because the softbox is small (though Lumiquest now makes a bigger one) and I have virtually no modelling light (which makes me take dozens of photographs until I find the right lighting angle). I would recommend renting a studio instead - I'm just too lazy to do that myself.

The only VERY SMALL thing that catches my eye, is the treaded tires.
Maybe they are rain tires, but on a track car, part of my brain just wants to see slicks.

But I am still jealous, and wish my projects could turn out that great!

These are the tires that came with the kit. I would have preferred slicks as well, but I didn't have a suitable set of those, so I had to be happy with what I had. I've never seen a picture of an F430 Challenge on rain tires, so these still may be correct.

There are other inaccuracies in the kit that I didn't bother correcting - like the absence of the air jacks, for example. I didn't have any information on the particular car I was building, so I just wanted to get it done.

I'm not fan of ferrari but this is amazing!

I sprayed some unthinned paint at a higher pressure and from a longer distance than normally. It didn't work out as well as I had hoped, because the only red paint that I had was glossy and I had to cover it with matt clear - which happened to be not matt enough. I'll try it with matt paint next time - it should look better.

Simple but very nice decoration, Great interior detailed and superb Pics.
