I have the 2008 Escape 4WD & 2009 Escape 4WD- you would be wise to purchase the "Haynes Repair Manual" #36022

basically- you remove the very lowest bolt and drain out the oil- add- run- drain-add

any automotive parts store has the correct fluid
so does Walmart

What's the mileage on that 2009? Sounds a bit early to be changing the trans fluid. But, it's your ride.

The trans filter is deep within the tranny. Don't try and get at it. Like previously said, you want to drain, fill, run, repeat a couple of times. You do it a couple of times because draining it alone doesn't get all the fluid out. There's a lot in the torque converter that doesn't get drained.

When I priced the cost of trans fluid, and how much I was going to need, it was pretty close to what my trans mechanic would charge me. So I just got him to do it....no mess, and no fluid to dispose of (properly).

Good luck.

good words- I have 2
bought 22 quarts at Walmart- serviced both- a pretty good Saturday- cost with tax-87.91

I've known a shop or 2 that puts in any old ATF
best advice- drain/add/drive,drain/add/drive

tell us of a shop that will drain/add/drive/drain/add for arround what 12 quarts and a couple hours of a bit of tender loving care to your vehicle

name the cities, business, that really will do your transmission justice- and have a reputation

also- could you give us an accurate cost of what these transmission specialists charge for a removal, dismantle, clean, rebuild, test drive, and provide a warranty for said transmission- 6 speed Auto/Overdrive

$2,700.00 seem about right-
funny- simple little afternoon at a cost of $40.00 every couple years would seem not so bad-
