Escalade Side Mirrors not Working

Has anyone run into a problem with the side mirrors not working on a 2002 or similar year Escalade? Mine never worked right and now they quit working entirely. Well, they reflect, but you know what I mean.
The dealer says in the neighborhood of 1000-2000 for a fix. Yeah, right. Sick bast**ds.
I'm considering a solution with $1.98 mirrors from the parts store and duct tape. It's just my nature. :eek7:
