I have always liked the style of the 3rd generation RX7 5 spoke rims. They seemed like the right choice to widen and deepen for this Miata.
I milled down the boss around the mounting post to allow them to be set inward… http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v92/Scale-Master/Miata%20G-Machine/DSC09818.jpg
… and I shaved off the lip so the aluminum outer sleeves I machined would fit flush.

Here they are dry fitted and mocked up.

The fronts and rears have different offsets, but I made the centers all the same to keep it simple, (and uniform).
I textured them before applying the satin light gray and made decals for the center caps.

And with valve stems… Here is a front (no tire) and a rear (with a tire).

Got a start on the roll bar. It was kit bashed (narrowed) from a Revell Charger and other scrap roll bar pieces.

I sourced the driver’s seat from the parts box, I came from some Tamiya car. The door panels have been sanded off and I am making replacements. New floor panels were made from corrugated aluminum.

The chassis is mostly done, even though it will just be a curbside I figured I’d put a little detail into it and weather it. The brakes are also from the parts box.

This is a better shot of the stance it will have.

I decided it needed some kind of hood scoop this morning. So this is what it got…

I machined a fuel filler in aluminum. A sleeve for the body to fit the outside curvature.

And the filler/cap…

That fuel filler is sick! Nice job! How did you make the cap itself?

I shot the body a base of Camel Yellow.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v92/Scale-Master/Miata%20G-Machine/DSC09957.jpg
Then airbrushed a blend of Brilliant Orange around the beltline and sides, and added some heat with a little Fluorescent Red around the edge of the beltline.

A Pearl Violet Purple mix of Dupont with a HOK Candy Cobalt Blue fade around the bottom…

And a reflective Stop Light Red stripe in the beltline divider.

You didn't happen to get any ideas from this by chance?

Funny. No, I never saw that before. And I don't care for that particular color combo either.

The dash is done, the pedals are from some other RHD Tamiya kit. Still needs a crush sleeve and steering wheel.

The interior is finished, the steering wheel came from some Tamiya Japanese car kit, (parts box), the crush sleeve is wound wire. Seat belts are made from tape and left over PE pieces. (Yes, I see they need to be refastened to the roll bar brace in the photo, and already have been.) Door panels were replaced with fabricated ones from sheet styrene and PE scraps.

Looking great. The paint scheme is very tropical - I like it!
