Transaxle interchangability?

Can anyone on this fourum advise me of the following?
My car has a 6 speed transaxle of type ZML 11K 301 211F FWD.
I would like to upgrade the box to Straight cut Dog engagement, I know either Quaife or Xtrac and Elite to gearsets for the 01E Transaxle which is the Quatro version of this box I believe.
What I need to know is are the internal gearsets interchangable withing casings or is the 01E so fundamentally different that it is impossible?
