a week ago it appeared right after i picked up the car from the tranny shop.
a friend erased it.
now today it,s back.
anyone ever had luck figuring p-0440?
gas cap and many other parts involved.i,m thinking maybe a vacuum hose got broken when tranny was rebuilt.
what happens if you give up and don,t ever fix it?

Go back to the tranny shop and have them do a visual of the lines and connections and harnessess of the EVAP system.....
But did you check your cap, and the mating surface of the fill pipe?

jeffcoslacker,s post about the line to the purge solenoid valve solved my code p-0440.
1st i brought the car back to the tranny shop. no help there.
when i read jeffco,s post i got curious and grabbed the line above the brake fluid resevoir. sure enough it was not conected to anything. just by feeling around i found the connection spot and now all is well and the "ses" light went out by it,s self.

Although I didn't read the code, I had a similar problem after doing my LIM gasket....I failed to plug that line back into the valve and had the CEL lit and a strange sound from the firewall side at idle.
