e-150 with a dana 60?

my rear end started makin a funny noise so a friend and i took it apart. the clutch plates for the limited slip were trashed. tabs missing and a couple bent real bad.
every place i call to find a used one says they didnt put dana 60's in 1/2 tons. i'm sure this is a dana, tag on it says 9.75 ring gear. 5:33 on pinion. my service manual says its a dana 60. i have 5 lugs.
my questions are #1 is this a dana (will try to upload a pic)?
#2 since i cant seem to find one for a van (dana's on pickups seem to be narrower on the perch mounts) should i go with the common 8.8 ? seems like thats all that will fit
#3 is is possible somebody tried to put 5 lug axles in a 3/4 ton rear end? my friend said it looks like someone didnt set the rear up correctly
