First thing I would check is to make sure your battery cable connections to the battery are tight, since it started after the change.

After that, check the DIY section, there are several threads on no-start fixes.

Also, the following info will help us help you:

How many miles? Auto or manual trans? Any symptoms like this before?

These Jeeps are notorious for crankshaft position sensor failures, which would cause a no-start as you describe.

It's common enough that some serious Jeep owners carry a spare

250k miles...manual trans...its never been like dis before...its really start after i change the battery..n fyi, before i buy a new battery, i just did my stupid idea like jump straight from other car to start my engine...without the battery..is it can cause any damage to the engine part?

Jump starting the vehicle should not have caused any issues.

Since you said this started immediately after changing the battery, have you made sure the battery cables are properly tightened?

MagicRat is correct, the CPS can cause a no start condition. But since this started suddenly (it DID start suddenly, right? Have you been having start problems before the new battery?) I'd think it had something to do with the work that was just done.

yeah..the battery cable are tight enough...its never been like dis before..just after i change my battery...the last time i cant start just because of my old battery..n after got a new one battery, its become misserable..hard to start...got missfire...n just can idle in a few second then the engine shut off..n now its cannot start anymore..just crank till low battery..

i just check the CPS..maybe will take it off dis evening..its a big problem to get the jeep part in malaysia...:(

OK understand the part -the CPS - is difficult to buy in Malaysia, but that could be the problem.

You can try disconnecting the battery cables, then holding them together for 15 seconds, sometimes that sort of reset can help.

Yes, I can certainly send you a CPS, glad to help. They are approximately $90US at the dealer, and less expensive at a parts store.

Let me find out how much they are and I will post back.

edit: I live on the East Coast of the United States.

Yes that is also the part for the 4.0. But I think they used the same one on both engines. I looked online and also went to the store and talked to the parts man.

Please look at this website:

http://shop.advanceautoparts.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/PartSearchCmd?storeId=10151&catalogId=10051&langId=-1&pageId=partTypeList&searchTerm=ewelctsnsrs&queryType=BBV&showTitle=no&sortBy=5&cm_sp=BBVS-_-Batteries,+Electrical+and+Wiring-_-Sensors#storeId=10151&langId=-1&catalogId=10051&categoryLevel=&sortBy=5&searchTerm=ewelctsnsrs&pageId=ajaxPartList&category=&queryType=BBV&showTitle=no&l1_categoryId=&l2_categoryId=&partType=&facetFields=mfrName_exact%2CpriceBucket%2Cclearanc e%2Csale%2Cl1_category%2Cl2_category&beginIndex=0&filterValue=part_type%3A%22Replacement+Parts*Senso rs*Crankshaft+Position+Sensor%22%7CReplacement+Par ts*Sensors*Crankshaft+Position+Sensor&pageSize=10&filters=part_type%3AReplacement+Parts*Sensors*Cran kshaft+Position+Sensor&selectedPartNumber=&qty=1&ship2HomeClicked=

The site says that it will ship parts, but I don't know if they will ship outside the US. If they will ship to you, that is good. If they will not ship to you, I can buy and ship to you.

that means there were no trouble codes since the battery was disconnected...

you probably blew a fuse or fusible link somewhere when you tried to jump start the vehicle or when connecting the battery cables wrong

thanx God, dis evening i just got it started...after change the fuse, blow the plug hole wif air cmpressor, its get started...but still got missfire, sound like sumting explode at exhaust n sumtime at the engine (dont know the exact part)..and the idle running annoying..like a timing problem.can u state any problem dat cause dat symtom?just change the new cps..help me..

How many km/mi since you changed the spark plugs? Also I think your year has a distributor cap and rotor. Those should all be changed every 48000km / 30000 miles. Worn spark plugs, cap, and rotor can cause rough running.

Also, inspect your spark plug wires; on a vehicle this old they may need to be replaced.

fred, i already change the fuses, new distributor cap, new distributor rotor, new CPS...still got the exploded sound when i rev at the high rpm...n the idle still annoying...is it the timing problem?or anything else?or i should change the new plug?

n after i cleaning the IAC, its cannot start again...n the code shown 12,33...means?

I believe the firing order is: 1 3 4 2, and goes clockwise around the distributor. If you have the plug wires in the wrong place it would make the explosion sound you have been hearing.

the 12 code says the battery has recently been disconnected.

The 33 code I think says that there is a problem with the air conditioning.

Have you changed the spark plugs? I forget.

Where is the explosion sound coming from?
