Yet another issue

2009 Buick Allure 3800 engine. Wow these problems just keep coming. My newest issue is that I get a couple of messages on the console
1. Service ABS brakes, and
2. Service traction control.

My wife says she has felt pulsing in the brakes. (I think she meant the ABS pulsing)

When I drive it the two messages come up but the brakes feel fine.

Any suggestions on what to look for?

I don't think it is the rotors or brake bads. At first when my wife said pulsing I was thinking warped rotors but they feel fine.

I don't have any grinding of worn down brake pads.

Anyhow what do you think? Any ideas are appreciated.

If the messages are coming up, there is a code(s) stored. Need to have the ABS scanned for codes. A basic OBDII scanner (like at the parts stores) will not be able to check ABS codes.

I wasn't getting codes for this on my OBD II scanner. This didn't have a check engine light. It was a message where you see the odometer. I could be wrong but I don't think this also gives a code on the OBD II scanner. At least I didn't get one.

And I do use my scanner for other things so I know it works. I don't think brakes will throw a code on the OBD II system. could be wrong about that though.

sorry I didn't read your post properly. My scanner might not read it is what your saying.

Next time I'll read that properly. My bad

What is the mileage on your vehicle, Rasp? Are you still within your new vehicle limited warranty (I can check to see if you wanted to get me the last 8 digits of your VIN)?

I have 93000 Km's. Warranty is for 80000 Km's so it is a few Km's off the warranty. My dealer has already helped me out with my last problem, which was generous of them.

My plan is to take the wheels off on the weekend and look at the brakes to see if I can see anything that looks wrong.

I am going in for an oil change soon so I might just have the dealer do the repair. I'll let you all know what I find out.

I see. I hope you're able to find some answers this weekend when you have the wheels off!

So I took the wheels off and noticed that I didn't know what I was looking at.

I then promptly called up the dealer and booked a time.

They found that I had a broken wire on ABS harness. They also changed a wheel bearing assembly (which was unrelated but still needed doing).

All in all she is back in shape and I'm happy.

I love my Buick, but I do hope I don't have any other issues for a while. To many silly little problems in a short period of time in my opinion.

I'm so happy to hear that everything has been resolved and you're pleased with the result!

Many happy, trouble free miles!
