Car won't start after stalling

I was idling at a red light waiting for the bridge to go down. All of the sudden, my car began shaking violently and the lights started to dim. My car stalled and wouldn't start back up. After attempting to jump the battery and restart the car, I didn't have much success.

The car sounds like it is trying to turn and has nearly a full tank of gas. It seems like the fuel isn't getting to the engine because starter fluid allowed the car to start when sprayed. When the starter fluid was not sprayed, the car shuts down.

Do you hear the fuel pump running when you turn the ignition switch to run without starting??? If not you need to check fuses, and fuel pressure with a fuel pressure tester gauge. You could also try to bang on the fuel tank with a rubber mallet to see if that will jar the pump into working again, if so you will need to replace fuel pump in the tank. WHen was the last time fuel filter was changed?
