Last week, the alternator light came on on our 2002 Silouhette. We managed to limp home, but just barely. The engine was starting to sputter and the dashboard had gone dead. We left it parked in the drive until I had time to work on it today.
I replaced the alternator and charged the battery back up. After the battery was good and charged, I tried to start it. It just cranks over. I can hear the fuel pump kick in but it will not fire.
I have torn this motor down twice before - first for the intake gaskets and then for a head gasket. Both times, the van started up immediatley after I re-connected the battery.
I have double checked all of my electrical connections and inspected the wires I had to move. The fuel injector harness runs right through the area the Alternator has to come out of. I was very worried about damaging it and treated it very gently.
Am I missing something simple or do I need to pull out the multimeter and start running down wires?

Is it possible, that you knocked off the power/ground harness to the ICM? This connection is near the bottom rear of the alternator on the left hand side of the ICM........

That is exactly what it was. That connector is buried so far back that I completely missed it. The old van fired right up after I pushed the connector back in all the way.
