02 Chevy Venture Compressor Problems

I just recently purchased a 2002 Venture. The self leveling system in the lift gate is constantly running. At first I thought it was the compressor on in the drivers side rear compartment, but it was not. Any suggestions on why this might be running constantly? Thought maybe an air leak some where, but it has to be a big leak for the thing to not stop running. Any info will be greatly appreciated.

You could have a leak, you could also have a bad/broken height sensor. Check and make sure it's not disconnected in the back.

Where is the sensor in the back and where would it be disconnected at? Also, would it bother anything to pull the fuse on it so the compressor wont burn up until I get it fixed? Thanks for the reply.

The sensor is in the rear , left rear I think. Its mounted to the body above the axle. It has a arm that pivots that is connected to a link rod that connects to the axle, this is how it senses a load in the vehicle. If the rod is disconnected, the sensor will show that the rear is loaded all the time and not rising as the compressor is running, so it will run all the time.

OK dumb question now. I have looked and looked but where is the fuse for this system? Thanks.

You are looking for the ELC/TRAILER fuse in the I/P (instrument panel) fuse box, 25amp fuse.
