hi, my manuals are all packed away for moving and i have an '89 E250 with a fuel injected 302 in it. it's not starting, cranks without firing up, died in the driveway a couple weeks ago. has over 300K miles on original engine and was wondering if maybe the timing chain broke, so with the cap off the distributor, the rotor is spinning when i crank it but i don't know if it's run off the crankshaft or the camshaft. i will get around to checking fuel pressure but of course my tester is packed away with the repair manuals....

If the rotor spins the timing chain is not broken. Yes the distributor drives off the camshaft.
Check to see if you have spark going through the spark plug wires while cranking the engine. I would guess the ignition module on the side of the distributor has gone dead.
