First is the slave cylinder on the outside of the tranny? Someone told me it was inside. The next question, can it be adjusted? I used to have a toyota and you could adjust the free play between the actuator arm that moves the clutch and the pin from the slave that pushes it. As the clutch would wear down you had to back off the distance between the slave and the actuator arm.

Thanks

usually a hydraulic system is self-adjusting...

but when replacing the clutch set, you may have to play with the pedal -to-master cylinder rod adjustment

some say it's external. one has a wacky model that is internal (yuck!)

just gotta look for the following to confirm if you have an external clutch slave cylinder: most likely

or

(this is a metal replacement of the OEM plastic style slave cylinder; wow that many people having trouble with the plastic cylinder with a so called, self-bleeding valve)

as seen on the following thread:

pray you don't have the internal one:

Thanks for the great pics. I was just wondering...will look under the beast to make sure. My only concern is that it is sometimes difficult to get into first after coming to a full stop at a light. I generally slip it into neutral as I am approaching the light so I do not have to sit there with my foot on the clutch. Then when it turns green I go to put it into first and it does not slip in real easy but with a slight pressure like it is moving the gears or something...hard to explain. Shifting to all the other gears are fine as long as I do not try to fast...just normal 1 second between gears and all is fine. Could this just be an old worn syncro in the gear box? The jeep has 150,000 miles.
