radio wont turn on

i installed a kenwood ddx-319 in my 2002 pontiac grand am. all wires are connected and i can tell power is going to the unit because the security light flashes. but nothing will come on the screen and nothing else will work. could someone give me some help with figuring out the issue..thanks

there are 2 power wires that need to be connected, 1 to switched 12V and one to constant 12V. You may need to enter the security code the first time you power it up.

i connected those 2 wires and the screen wont come on for me to enter it

check each of the wiresw to make sure they have the correct voltage, also where is the ground wire connected ? If you say the black wire on the harness, change it to a metal bolt behind the dash. If this is not a power/ground issue then it must be a defective unit.
