Ok, i just took my car in for emissions 1994 bonneville, and passed with flying colours.
now all of a sudden the car is jerking sometimes, and almost stalling out. The dealer tells me it's gonna be 300 and some odd dollars for the part alone. Is it possible for this part to just go out of the blue, since a week earlier i passed emissions with no problem? am i getting screwed on the price?

You have a digital egr on that car and they are pretty pricey. Why don't you check around for a price at your local parts store or even the dealer. Yes, the egr will cause the car to stall. Why don't you take it out and clean the bottom ports. Pretty straight forward.

well i already had the fix done, cost me an arm and a leg. 80 some odd dollars in labour, 300 and something for the part, another like 10 or 12 for the port cleaning. All prices are Canadian. Car runs fine again though. don't know if it had to cost that much?
