Two new problems: Ignition switch?

Hi guys,
I'm happy that I finally got to drive my GP again! I had forgotten how good it feels.
Unfortunately I noticed a couple of problems, one with the ignition switch and one more still with the steering.
1.- When I turn the key to the start position, lights will work as usual but the engine will start to turn over after about a second. It doesn't happens all the time, sometimes it will start to turn over as soon as I turn the key.
Any clues on this? Do you think the ignition switch could be acting up? I don't think I have other electrical gremlins which could point to the switch being bad.
2.- After all the work with the steering system, it's working good. The chattering noise is gone but I still have some whining coming from the pump which goes up and down with the revs and is more noticeable after a cold start in the morning. No big deal it's been like that even after 3 replacement pumps. Checked the fluid level and is OK. I drove the car for a few miles until it reached normal temp. Checked the fluid again and as soon as I opened the cap I could hear air escaping from the reservoir (seemed to be under pressure). I will check the clamps to make sure they are tight. Any thoughts on this?
Thanks in advance,
Oscar.

So I never got any replies but I figured it out.
Since my car hasn't showed any electrical gremlins I just kept googling for ignition switch problems until I found another way to spot one. Can't remember if the suggestion was from this forum or another; sorry for not giving credit to whoever posted such thing.
The DRL's normally turn off when the A/C is being used on any of the 1-4 speeds. My blower motor works OK but since I disabled the DRL's to install HID lights I never spotted such thing. I re-enabled the DRL's and tested with the blower speeds and surely they turned off.
Now I know I'm in need of a new ignition switch...
The steering pump whine, I still haven't figured out but I can live with it. This morning I replaced the serpentine belt (930K6 or 935K6 will work fine in these cars) and noticed the water pump makes a squeaky noise when rotated counter clockwise but will not do it when rotated clockwise. The pump is relatively new, I bet it has less than 10k miles on it and the pulley has no movement at all. Anybody thinks this could be a problem or is it normal?.
