cost of crvtec?

I'm planning on doing some engine work but I'd like to hear some opinions from some more experienced people. I'm running a B16A3 right now and I'd like to drop 2 seconds off my quarter mile, so basically high 13s. I don't have much cash but I'm willing to spend most of it on my car so if I can only afford to hit low 14s that's great too. Anyway here's what I'm considering: Since I already have the B16 head I'd just like to get a B20 block to put it on. I'm gonna go for the B20B over the B20Z because of the lower compression and it's cheaper. I want the lower compression so I can go turbo too. I want power right off idle so I figure the best turbos to choose from would be a T25, a TD04, or a 14B. By the way I'm going to be getting all my parts from a junk yard since it's all I can afford. I can do most mechanical things myself but if something is really complicated I'd get it done professionaly so I don't fuck it all up. So much much do you guys think I could do this setup for? Any comments on the setup would be appreciated.

CRVtec's can be pretty pricey, it isn't just bolting a vtec head to a CRV block. You have to run new oil lines and do some building to insure that it last.

yeah it can get pretty pricey, plus hy-brid motors are not reliable, they dont oil right, they overheat, etc.
anyway, jcrx is right, its not as easy as just bolting one to the other.
figure around 1500-2000 just for the motor itself, let alone any performance parts you may wanna invest in.

Yeah, I know it's gonna be more than a simple bolt on so those are the costs I'm trying to figure out. Any idea what a salvaged block would go for? Also I might go for a LS block and bore it out because the sleeves are stronger, but I'd have to look at costs for this too. Other than a custom oil line what would I need? As for reliability would it really be that bad for a non-racer? I don't understand why there would be problems if the blocks are so similar, besides small size different in the internals.

well if u plan on turboing a crvtec, your gonna need an lsd, well not need one but it would be nice, then u would also have to upgrade your axles. why not just get an lsd and upgrade your axles, then buy some slicks, then there u go bam low 14s, or just supercharge the b16, youll be in the 13s, superchargers are better i think because they are maintenience free

I am a fan of superchargers, though it seems most people here are against them, but they're just too expensive. Plus I'm not too sure it would put me into 13s. I'm not going to bother with slicks because this is a daily driver, but I do use Ulta High Performance tires. I'm not too clear on exactly what an LSD does, could you explain it to me? Also what kind of axles would I need? Any idea of how much power the stock ones can handle?

Stock Honda B series axles a good up to and a little over 200hp with no problems, anything more and I would go with Raxles or Driveshaftshop performance axles. As far as the 13's go, I know a guy that killed a vette with his, but due to DRIVER error burned his rings and it died. Anyway, if you run the lines right and don't skimp on the build, you will have a VERY reliable, powerful motor.
Limited Slip Differential transfers power evenly to both tires, in otherwards it cuts down on slipping and helps you maintain even traction. There are a couple different kinds of LSD, but I will let you explore those, www.google.com is your friend.
