H23 with H22 Vtec head, need help fast

I just bought a 92 Prelude Si with a intake, exhaust, DC headers and a ZEX kit, sittin on 17" Momos. This is my first real car that had any balls
and I rallied the @#$% out of it. I blew a rod bearing and now I'm screwed. I have about 2 grand I can use to fix it and my brother (Hes a VW mechanic who hates hondas!) Wants to put a H22 Vtec head on my non Vtec H23 and buy a new short block.
I don't know a damn thing, I'm just now starting to learn. I need some help bad because I want to get back behind the wheel but I don't want to put the same thing back in if I going to rip open the engine anyway.
