Looking around on eBay motors and found this: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2417285658&category=6290
Poor guy won it (at least that's what he says) and can't afford the insurance. He says he is selling it and using the money to send his kids to college. Believe it or not, it is a very nice car... 29 miles.

And here's our friend with the sport exhaust: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2417611871&category=6290
Different pictures this time, same ugly pipes...

the first one must be a scam!! we can clearly see that the picture is photoshoped from a car show, just see the lights on the car!
the second one should be real... apart from the quad exaust, I love it!

Yea, I was thinking the same thing about that first one. Unless that poor guy doesn't have any way of putting a real picture on so he just found a pic of a red Murci. He would get in a lot of truble if he didn't actually own the car.

Yea, and the lucky bastard who happened to win it is a guy who can't afford to keep it. It sucks.

This is very poor graphic work:

He's probably selling a 1:18 scale model.

I saw the second car last week in Houston. The car looks excellent and you hardly notice the funky sport exhaust.

Lemme ask you all something: if you won a Murcielago in a contest, and were able to receive it without paying a dime, would you (assuming you can't afford the $4500 annual insurance):

A) Cash it in: Don't drive it at all for risk of devaluing it and sell it immediately

B) Drive it anyway: Even though you don't have insurance--you think it is worth it

C) Keep it garaged: Don't drive it but keep it to show off

This is assuming the insurance is too much. I am sure in most states you can actually buy a policy that doesn't cover damage to your own car that might be cheaper (but it wouldn't be that much cheaper).

I'm sure coming up with insurance money would be no problem for most people. I think you are required to pay a federal tax on that though and that would be rather sustantial on a Lamborghini Murcielago which I think would be a lot higher than a state sales tax because it was won.

if i couldn't afford the insurance or some tax shit... i would sell it and get a cheaper car like... 911 GT3 or a 360 modena... they are way cheaper than muri, but still exotic.

then i would use those extra $$ to pay the insurance...:iceslolan

hell, in some parts of ontario, for a young male, insurence can cost as much as $7000 a year, even if the car is worth less that that. its absolutly crazy
