Spray wd 40 or any kind of penetrating fluid thru the trunk key hole and let is sit for a while. Then try opening with the key. Try tapping close to the key hole with your fist while turning the key. You might have to try it a couple of times. Once you get it opened, lubricate the latch really good.

I've tried the whole wd40 thing and the trunk is still locked. Any ideas what can be done to get it open? I've taken it to a locksmith and they tell me it needs to go to a mechanic and the mechanic says to take it to a locksmith. I went to the dealership and they want $80 to take the back seat out and gave me an estimate of $200 for the whole project! $200 to get a lock unlocked?!!!!

How can I get through the back seats? I'm not sure where to unscrew them. The latch to open the seats is in the trunk.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Try using a new key.
When the key is inserted, try tapping on it with a piece of wood. That is a trick a tow truck driver taught me when my ignition lock would not turn. It works.
If that does not work, try manipulating the tumblers with a dental pick, while gently trying to turn the lock with a bent piece of spring steel.
Last resort would be to drill out the lock cylinder.
Get a new one first, so that you know how to avoid damaging anything but the cylinder.
It is not that hard because the metal is soft.
