H22 in a CRX? (Repost)

Just gonna see if I can get some more information on this swap. Place Racing apperently sells Mounts, Shift Linkage and Axles for this swap. Does anyone have any experience with this? have any pictures? any useful websites? what about things such as radiatiors - Will the stock one be big enough? will a bigger one even fit? What about wiring - CRX's dont even have OBD do they? what would you guys suggest doing? this will be my daily driver but will be driven very slowly (I understand how you guys talk about how it will effect the handling and that is probley good for me, wont be temped to drive so fast around corers) I want it to be capable of running atleast constant 13's on the track, while being able to drive it to school too.
Any pictures of a CRX with a H22 will help out alot, i need to cheak out dementions and such, i should still have a few extra grand left over after the purchess of the car and engine and mounts and stuff... should i go turbo if it fits or just spray it when/if i need to? and possibly add cams, valve springs/retainers
Some people told me the crank pulley may even hit the frame? how close is the engine to even fit in?
I need to buy a car soon, I have about a month from now to get it reliable. is this not enough time? I did only one other engine conversion and that was a V-8 into a Ponitac Fiero (that was tight, fun car though)
Thanks
Kyle
Note. this will be probley a '91 CRX

Its not a practical swap, even if you manage to make it work...
I've heard nothing but bad things about it. If you want a fast ass car, sleeper style, do an H22 in a 90-93 Accord. I know someone who has done it, and that car fucking flys.

personaly i think those accords are ugly, I currently have a Integra, but want something different. I would love to have a CRX like that, eveythingi seem to read is just wieght distrabution and handling problems, oh well swaybars/stiffer springs and adjustable shocks will help that, plus i dont need to be going to fast around corners anyway - just in stright lines (less chances of crashing) what are the real problems with this swap?

i'm not an asshole, but i know when something is fishy.....you shouldnt try to impress people here on the board, it just makes them angry if you dont have pics or some kind of proof, so if your lieing, just admit it now and save yourself the hating, if you actually did do it, i am the first to say "prove it"
not trying to be an ass, just trying to get you on the up & up

Accord weighs a lot more than the crx does and only runs low 14's or so with the h22 swap ... I was talknig to a guy on superhonda.com who has an h22 in a 90 accord

90-93 accords can look DOPE with the right mods, and i love seeing H22 swaps in em... it just fits... unassuming midsize family sedan with 2.2L of pure DOHC honda goodness underneath...
i love my mom's 90 accord lx... sedate, yet it can get up and go... squeals em good going into second and third

:argue: ok guys ... cut the shit about the fiero and give him a chance to respond before you guys all flame him ... this thread is about putting an h22 in a crx ... and I actually do believe that he has put the v8 into the fiero because he hasnt given us a reason not to believe him ... so just chill till he gives us a response and then it will be all good :finger:

I just spent about 20 minutes looking for pictures, i cant find any since i did it about 2 years ago, i had them posted on the fiero fourm i am on but i cant find them with the search. I sold it to some guy in Mass. he ended up just putting the engine to a 4 speed 4:10 tranny (I used a Caddy v-8, the 4.5 TBI engine) I used a pontiac 6000 OD tranny (yes i know automatic :(, thats why i got rid of it ) for mounts i was able to use stock 6000 tranny mounts, Engery suspentions GM Tranny mounts for the engine mounts with custom brackets made by a guy named Joe out of Canada (I dont know if he is still around but they were $150 for the mounts) as for axles i used Ponitac 6000 axles, wiring besides for the charging/starting system there were only 5-6 wires i had to combine to the stock ECU for it to run the engine. I was able to use stock fuel pump because this caddy engine ('90) was a TBI engine and does not require high fuel pressure. I repaced all the usual stuff that should be done in any engine. Hardest part was making a custom belt because i did not use power steering (fiero does not have it) and i did not use A/C, i had to make custom idler pullies/brackets. I had to notch one of the hidges for the rear decklid That guy from Canada had a website with my car pictures on it, I will try to find them but im not sure if he still even does it anymore. Yes i have done this swap, it is very cummon, cost me under 2000$ totel.... this is a very common swap with these cars aswel as the 3800 GTP engine, even 350/383's cheak out sites like www.fiero.nl www.v8archie.com I have done this and if you dont belive me then well dont. Ill look again some more for the pictures but i know i dont have them on my computer anymore. They are probley on the internet somewhere....
Anyways this isnt about a Fiero, its about a CRX and a H22.... i did see one 92? accord i liked before with 18's, body kit, dropped... looked nice but thats not what i want, I want another 2 seater car again. only reason why i am not doing another V-8 Fiero is because unless you are spending 6000$ on a full body kit for a fiero they just dont look as nice as imports do (my opinion) but they were sure fun to drive, and the RWD made it even more fun :) So does anyone have any info for my conversion?
i dont want to start any type of flame war, if I do find my pictures i will let you guys know, if you have any questions about doing this swap i guarentee i know the answer as long as it is my same engine, i know those cars pretty good... have had 5 of them...
thank you for those who have belived me, It took me almost 6 mounts to do but thats because i work part time making $6.15, every pay cheak i got i put most of it into my swap.
I currently have a little over $7,000 I am willing to spend on this complete swap including cost of car and engine, hopfully it will be enough, if not then it will take me a little longer. I dont want to spend any more then I have to though (like buying 3 of something to see if it fits) thats why im trying to find someone that has done it

Have you ever seen one done properly? This one only has I/H/E and he's deep into the 13's. This car is a friggin animal. He has 17's and a boatload of trouble hooking up. He actually has to launch in 2nd gear, otherwise the car won't budge.....too much torque. We keep trying to get hime to switch to 15's with a beefy tire, but he likes his konigs.
Funny as hell, he just showed me this video last week of him racing a 350z with some minor mods. I am not kidding when I say that he destroyed the Nissan.....not even close. The look on that yuppie's face was fukking priceless.
As far as the Crx goes, like I said......the swap is totally inpractical. It will take you way more than $6000 to do it right. Even then, the car won't really be street legal. I've seen it done, and it takes a hack job. You were right about the pulley hitting the shock tower.....but so does 60% of the rest of the motor. I think there might even be cutting and welding involved.
Fitment issues aside, have you ever seen a H22 and a D16 side by side?   The H22 is a behemoth compare to any of the D or even B series motors. If a 90-93 accord has trouble taming a H22, what makes you think a car 500lbs lighter will have any more luck??
For the time and effort you will put smashing this 300lb motor into a 100lb container, you would have been able to accomplish the same level of performance with any of the DOHC motors that honda has to offer.
My advice, if you want flat out drag racing quickness.....
Get a B20 and a high quality suspension. Shit, if you budget yourself wisely, you can even do the vtec head on the b20. When all is said and done, you will have higher torque and HP numbers than a stock H22. And more importantly, IT FITS :D

I've seen a fiero with a 350 in it before! :) V8s in feiros aren't that uncommon.
As far as the H22 goes, it can be done.. It has beem but I think its a lot of work.. A LOT of banging out panels inside the engine bay to make more room for it to fit. And I bet the mount kit for it would be expensive as fuck. Plus, you're gonna have to wire for OBD2 and thats gonna be a pain in the ass too probably. Oh ya, and you'll have to convert your car to take a hydro tranny, because there aren't any cable H series tranny you could use.
Its been done.. The guy who did my swap put an H22 in a 4th gen and ran 12s with it with an exhaust and intake.. Its a fucking monster, but he just uses it for drag racing. I highly doubt it would ever be "reliable" for a daily driver.
Honestly, 1st gen B16A is your best swap for putting into a CRX, and then jus spend some money doing it up.. Get a GSR block for it and just put bolt ons. You'd probably have a near 13 second car with not too much of a pain in the ass.
