99 tahoe 4 wheel drive police pkg. 5.7 engine gas ABS light is on and stays on
went to autozone and these are the codes they gave
Should I keep driving or will it make the ABS module thing completly fail

code 1
C0281 - stop lamp switch circuit
code 2
C0225 - left front speed sensor open
code 3
C0266 - electric brake control module
code 4
C0286 - abs indicator lamp circuit
code 5
C0273 - electric brake control module

was wondering what it all adds up to
can it be the abs wheel sensor or what
I did have the brake fluid taken out of the reservoir can it be I got air in the lines?
seems like I might have as i press on the brakes and do see bubbles
if so what is the proper procedure to beled the brakes
was looking and they say you can check to see if the abs wheel sensors are working right but did not explain exactly how says you need a multimeter to do this
Another says you have to buy a new hub and abs wheel sensor together
I got regular brakes and stop and tail lights work
checked the fuse that looks good
Any and all help is very appreicated
kinda hoping it ain't going to cost an arm and a leg or 2 to fix

you just buy this ?

the most times that this ABS acts up its the wheel hubs bearings rusting . check the front wheel sensor for blue grease. if its red/rusty color then the hubs are n/g and the new hubs come with a properly calibrated speed sensor. timkin is the recommended at 180 ea.

the abs control module the electronic portion on top of the valve unit can be sent out for repair.

until you get this fixed remove the big abs 60amp fuse. this will disable the ABS and you won't loose your brakes.

ya this can add up to about a thousand plus. depends on where you go what you can do.

Hi, I checked the hub and it looks like it needs replaced so will get it. are they hard to replace?
would this alone put out all the codes?
someone said I might have a lose ground wire somewhere any ideas where they all are.
Is there a way to check the abs control module to see if it is good
and would removing the fuse stop the abs module from failing if still good as they cost an arm and a leg

Thank You for the help so far greatly appreicated

removal of the fuse will cause the abs and brake light to come on but you will be able to stop. this is the feed for the ABS valves to operate. no power no abs activation.

the hub bearings if rusted will efect MPG and also get / create noise.
damage brake pads also.

they are hard to remove when rusted to the vehicle. look up this on Utube. they have good video to do this on our vehicles.

next week I have to do one on my 2000 silverado. right front is shot. under warrantee got money back. installing a timken made in USA. no china crap this time. at least I got my cash back .

locate the ground connection for the abs valve assembly. this should be removed and cleaned . rust belt this is an issue.corroded ground on frame rail.

If your '99 Tahoe is an OBS (Old Body Style) the ground (G105) for the EBCM is at the right front of the engine block.

Also check the BRAKE fuse, 10a #18, in the I/P fuse block.

If your Tahoe is a NBS (New Body Style) please disregard the above.

One more thing. Please answer j_cAT's ? regarding your purchase history of this truck.

Sorry jcat and 777 stickman did not see the question
yes I just bought this tahoe got a good deal on it I have had it about a month
it has about 183,000 miles on it. had 2 owners seemed like they took care of it real no real rust or damage never been in an accident when I got it he said he knew the oxegen sensors would need to be replaced did that runs smooth and sweet
how do you tell if it old or new stye? it has the doors on back that swing open not lift up.if that helps any man was in need of money had a friend check it before I bought it and said I was getting a good deal
I did check the fuse and looks good.
So I figure when I replace the hub and sensor best to replace the brakes too only checked the drivers side but should replace both hubs and brakes on both front brakes of course I know
Sorry again about not answering the question I just got side tracked trying to figure this probelm out but will check the ground this morning
Thank You for the help it is greatly appreicated

OBS looks like a '95. NBS looks like an '02.
