I know you can't spray regular laquer paint over acrylic paint but would it be safe to spray Tamiya's "Synthetic" laquer over their acrylic line?

Only if you do it in mist coats; i.e. misting the first four or five coats, so that you build a proper barrier between the lacquer paitn and the acrylic surface.

Heh.

Lacquers, Enamels, Acrylics

Enamels can go over lacquers, acrylics can go over enamels.

But not the other way around unless you're very careful ;)

Thanks again. I figured that maybe Tamiya made their TS/spray line "acrylic friendly since it is "synthetic laquer."

Was just wondering - does the LEA rule hold true even if you've masked off the area painted with acrylics (to be followed by a lacquer)

I agree. I've tried it but you have to be very careful. Practice first.
