Time to FIX MY STICK!

hello... strait to the point i guess...

1990 chevy k1500
5.7 (350) on a 5 speed stick...

she runs good, but i started getting trans(?) noise last time out. i was hauling an empty trailer (slight load), haul'n down the freeway (around 75 mph), get off the freeway, slow down, light changes, coast through (around 35 mph). bout 3 min. later, i get a faint clicking noise... (getting worse)... slow down, pull into walmart (coasting, clutch disengaged, around 15 mph), let the clutch out, all hell breaks loose. clack clack clack clack clack clack (disengage the clutch) quiet... so i stop, drop it into neutral, let the clutch out, clack clack clack clack clack... that's my story, i dont know if it's trans, clutch, both...

all i do know, is i'v been through EVERYTHING on this beast, BUT the trans...she's my baby, part of the family, she's been around longer than my wife, and she's been outa my daily life for going on 4 months now...

help?

TS, i hate to say it but it sounds like tranny time. How many miles on her?

mystery mileage actually, i'm second owner, got her w/98 on a broken odometer, and have put 2 in since then... i'm willing to say easily north of 200k. i'm just wondering if it's a simple thing, or... (bad words) new trany time... see, when THAT happens, it's gonna be a full cab off restoration... she's my baby, she's long overdue for some quality wrench time, a lil' r and r, repair and refit...

T.S. probably something simple, I can tell you like her! Get that fixed run some synthetic in the trans and enjoy her for another 200,000. Good luck.
