1999 suburban k1500 5.7L with A/C - I've gotten a belt at autozone before and I don't think it's correct so measuring is out. I get a wicked squeal it's got a new auto adjuster so I thought the belt might be too small.

if you dont have the original or a used belt that is correct then its a crap shoot.

the belt if correct will cause the self adjuster to line up with marks on this adjuster. also the belt should defect about 1/2 inch. if too tight this would not be possible . if you can deflect the belt over 1/2 inch then too big.. again the tensioner marks should line up...

the other issue is width.

gates makes good belts.

clean the pulleys with paint thinner and a cloth.use a paint brush to apply.[mineral spirits]

according to their website, & that you stated the vehicle has A/C...

you either need

dayco # 5060960 / duralast # 960K6 96.06 "

or

dayco # 5060968 96.85 "

it's dependent of the alternator pulley size (from what i'm reading)

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

buy both and use j cAT's advise in checking the belt deflection of each one; you can always return the belt that didn't work out for you

j cAT's advise about width is easy to spot; it's going to be a 6-ribbed belt & verified by counting the ribs on a pulley since this is just one belt that drives your accessories
