Hello,

My wife has a 2012 Cruze Eco, had it since Sept 2011. It has about 5800 miles, but has developed a rattle sound behind the steering wheel (at least where it sounds like it coming from). It seems to appear when the car is over 35 mph or so and will continue during higher speeds. It does not do it in park.

My wife is concerns about the steering on this car (because the steering wheel that came off one last year). How can a new car have sounds like this?

Anyone have any suggestions? You do not feel anything in the steering wheel, it is just an annoying sound. She also says it doesn't matter what the temperature outside it, still does it. Consistently over 35+ mph.

She is worried that we will bring it to the dealer, pay for an hour to look for this sound and find nothing.

-Sad in NJ.

As your Cruze is a 2012 and still within the Bumper to Bumper warranty, there may be a diagnostic fee involved but if the source of this noise is found to be due to manufacture defect it would be reimbursed. If you would like assistance in working with the dealership, or to check into any open recalls on your vehicle, please contact me through the forum in a private message and I'd be happy to help!

Like Sarah said, take it to the dealer for warranty repairs.

Thanks, I will have the dealer look at it when it goes in for the first oil change. I will post what they found/did not find.

I will private message you Sarah, if assistance is needed. I thank you again.

Sarah, what the heck are you talking about?

"As your Cruze is a 2012 and still within the Bumper to Bumper warranty, there may be a diagnostic fee involved "

If there is a diagnostic fee, it won't be paid by the customer......sure you work for GM?

Oh no! Thanks for catching that for me Tech II - you're right in that there would not be a diagnostic fee for a vehicle within Bumper to Bumper. I'm sorry for any confusion, and for this mistake in my post!
