So this is my first WIP, or any work on a model in four years. I have a few WIP threads around here somewhere, but this one is new and probably not a model you see everyday or maybe any day. It is an 85 fiero GT by AMT, I'm not sure when I picked it up, but I started in sometime in 2007. My goal is to finish it and give it to my Dad on fathers day. Which in the US is on June 17 this year. The reason is my dad has always wanted a fiero, but has never had the garage space for one. So I figure he should have space for a model.

First off the model was about 80% finished when I started working on it last week. In the four years I've been out of modeling I somehow lost the spoiler, so I'll be trying to scratch build one (we'll see how that goes :uhoh:). Anyway enough tying onto some pictures.

First the body, I tried to paint it a while ago, messed it up I guess since it took a bath in brake fluid to strip the paint. The chassis however is done, as well as the motor. Only mods where I added a firewall piece to the back of the interior tub. I didn't go to highly detailed on this at all, just OOB.

Now the interior looks fine to me, I just added some floor mats made from cardboard that I sanded. It was a spur of the moment thing, I hated that I didn't put flocking on the floor and had to do something about it.

I had to add some styrene to the rear bumper since somehow in got broke.

And I also am working on removing the molded in bracing and adding in back in with some styrene.

I started to make the replacement spoiler out of one from my parts box, but it didn't go to well. As you can see I cut the ends off, but it just did not look right.

So I must build one from scratch. I started laying styrene to get the shape I needed. Not much to show at the moment, but its progress.

And finally a shot of the rest of the exhaust system.

Google tells me it is 1/24 scale since its nowhere to be found on the manual and I don't have the box anymore.

Funny thing is after reading this I realized that I put this is an AMT model when in reality it is the mongram one.

I believe its 1/24...which is a bummer since I'm trying to build a bunch of models of the cars I had & they will be a mix of 1/24 & 1/25 I'd rather have all the scale but oh well

Oh wow. This brings back memories. I remember helping a friend build this one back when it was an annual kit!! Please keep us updated. I would like to see this one finished.
What color scheme you going with?

Color scheme is going to be either black with silver bottom trim or black with semi-gloss bottom trim. Not sure yet, been trying to figure out with one my Dad would like better without asking him.

A little update, got the car primed and have been working on the spoiler, just a couple pictures of that. I've got a lot of sanding on the body to do, the primer showed a lot of sand lines that I missed. Oh well, I've got some time till it warms up to paint anyway.

Mine was originally black with the silver bottom trim. Now all black...

Nice Fiero you got their!

I haven't had much time to work on the model. All I have been doing is sanding the body with 400 and 600 grit to get to smooth and ready for another coat of primer. I've also have the scratchbuilt spoiler about done.

great job on that spoiler. You should do a DIY on how to scratchbuild em.

How about an update....

...well I missed my goal of fathers day thanks to working on my real life car, but I did do some work. I got the car (mostly) painted.

http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a8/glacier985/models/85%20Fiero%20GT/DSC_9776.jpg

I also modified the way the rear bumper connected to the body. I didn't like how you were suppose to glue it directly to it. So I got a couple pieces of plastic tube. I glued the hollow ones one the body and solid ones on the bumper so it can just slide into place without glue. That way it is easy to put on and glue in place.

And I promise I'll have better pictures when it is finished.

The wing is awesome. You are doing a great job on the kit. Can't wait to see the finished kit.
