spark plugs

i stopped by a local auto parts store (Autozone) today to pick up new spark plugs for a 2000 silerado 4x4 2500 6.0L v8 automatic with A/C today..
my Haynes manual says to use AC Delco iridium plugs #41-952 or equivelant gapped at .60 and the identification panel in the engine compartment of the truck also says .60 plug gap..
the auto parts store listed AC Delco professional #41-110 for my vehicle gapped at .40 as well as the print out they issued me with the plugs.
I understand that there has been upgrades in design over the last 12 years however it seems odd to me that the plug gap would be different.. has anybody else had this issue?

the plugs that came with our 2000 vehicles had platinum tips. these plugs where defective because the high heat caused the tip wire to fall off. ya the gap was larger.
41-110 is an irridium high temp 100,ooomi plug. you do not mess with the gap or the small wire WILL fall off...
check by looking at the plugs at the store using only your eyes. if one is bent wrong get a new one as this means its defective.
torque is 15 ft lbs. measure plug wire resistance 600 ohm approx..

I knew not to try to udjust the gap and I appreciate the resistance reading for the plug wires, even though I intend to install new wires, its still useful info since I have had issues in the past with new wires when taken out of the box being bad, so I think its always good to check before installing them new as well.

these plugs do work best for our engines. too bad they did not include them back in 2000....
plug wires I also have found defective out of box. I got some ac delco from advanced auto recently and they were the exact same wires perfect fit. use the dielectric grease in the plug wire boots..this protects the conductor wire and aids in removal when the time comes.
