How to copy a wheel pattern

I need to build this wheel wonder if anybody has any good ideas on how to copy the pattern onto styrene sheet. I'm pretty comfortable going from there but am having problems getting a symmetrical pattern at 1/24th. I've done all the searches but can't find anything on this critical step.

Any ideas greatly appreciated . Don

Best solution for a template would be to draw it in a graphics software ( Illustrator, Freehand, Corel Draw... even Photoshop should be o.k. for that) or CAD and print it out to stick it on the styrene sheet for cutting.

The other solution is to find a similar wheel, modify it and use it as a master for casting. I think Tamiya NSX rim looks pretty close to what you want.

You might try just printing the image of the wheel at the correct scale and using that to apply to the styrene sheet to carve out.

I have the same issue as you not the same wheel though, but Im going to use a wheel from a similar kit to that i require & cut it down then use styrene sheet to make the plate(green painted part) around the edge & do a master from that.
my other problem is getting the tire too but i think i'll also make the tire & rim all in one or something

Thank You, everybody. Appreciate the help.

Foxerjr - I did try that at first but will need to get a higher resolution and maybe a better printing too? I used a laserjet but I think I would need something that will give a finer print to be more accurate.

Helico - Thanks for the tip. That's a great shortcut because I was getting fed up looking at hundreds of wheels that weren't even close.

Jaykay - Good to know although I was trying to avoid the time it took to learn some of these. Might have to sweet talk my wife.. she has all those on her machine.

Gasdriver - let me know how you are doing. PM direct ? You might be better off using some tube instead of sheet for that rim.

Thanks
Don
