Front door speakers

This really isnt a question as much as it is a tip. My speakers in the front doors blew out and i had a hard time trying to find replacements.
Well i was working on a 97 Cadillac Deville Concours replacing the window switch and found they had the same size speakers in the front doors.
They were higher quality and had a bigger magnet but the same 4 ohm impedence.
So i went down to my local junkyard and found the speakers in a 98 caddy. I did have to solder the tweeter wires to the new speakers but other then that they sound great and only cost me the gas to go get them.
The junkyard said they dont normally sell them due to them mostly being blown out. So he let me have them for free.
But this is well worth it. The quality of the sound is way better and i know they will last alot longer.

1999 Pontiac Grand Prix GT 4 door. It has the CD player with the 6 speaker setup.

This is what my old speaker looked like. The foam surround is destroyed. (An inferior quality speaker) The one from the Caddy was a fabric that was much better then the foam.

Another place to look for speakers is crutchfield.

I didnt have the money for new speakers. But this was a cost efective way to replace blown speakers with little if any modification. Maybe later on down the road i will upgrade to better speakers but stock sounds just fine for me.:)

I hear you about not having the extra cash on hand to buy new speakers. Another place that you can check out is jc whitney which is a good place to get parts from.

Does anybody know a good aftermarket speaker to go with a stock radio? Maybe one that you have used and it worked well.

use a lower wattage speaker if you are using the stock radio. go with brands like alpine, kicker, pioneer, rockford, kenwood, or other name brands. dont buy off-brands. ever
