Plymouth Grand Voyager transaxle problem

Hi, I have a 1992 Grand Voyager(3.3 liter FWD) that has an issue with the automatic transaxle. Going forward in Drive, 2 or 1 it seems to drive normally until everything just stops. I am able to stop and restart the engine and it will go forward again until the next time it just gives up and goes out of gear. I can start the engine in any one of the gear positions PND21 which I realize you shouldn't be able to do. It will not move at all in reverse regardless of how many times I restart the engine. So far I have replaced the oil and filter, changed both turbine input sensor and the output speed sensor on the transaxle. Would appreciate any help and comments on this issue. Thanks Tom

is it a 3 speed or overdrive unit???? 3 speed probably direct clutch failure...time for a rebuild or GOOD (lol) USED unit....direct clutch is needed to apply to give 3rd gear ,,,and is the main clutch for reverse,,,starting in all positions most likely nuteral safety switch stuck in closed position ...best info i can give with the info you gave....

not a big deal,,,just need more info to help......the bad news is you need a tranny ,,,,reverse requires no electrical activity from any solenoids or sensors,,,still should have reverse,,leaving internal clutch problem or internal hard part failure,,,other foreward issues are probably related to reverse failure,,,other than the nuteral/safety switch,,that can be replaced on rebuild or repair......gbaum
