cobalt Reliability

I am considering purchasing a Chevy Cobalt, probably an '06 model year coupe for my daughter. I'd like one with about 90k miles. I am wondering about long term reliability with these models. Are there any/many running around with 150k - 200k miles? Normally I'd buy Toyota or Honda but I like the looks of these cars and want something dependable and relativly easy to maintain.

I have an 06 that has just topped 82k miles and so far, so good. The only things that are a common issue with these cars are the front suspension and for some reason mine keeps going through O2 sensors. But the front suspension sometimes sounds like it gets loose when you hit bumps and it sounds like something loose and knocking around. I spent a couple hundred dollars to get mostly everything replaced in the front end and it has been good since then. That occurred about 70k miles. Everything else though has been good reliability wise.

Main problem I see is the electronic steering....can be an expensive repair, especially if parts are thrown at it...

Ah yes, this is also a problem on these cars a while ago. However, my electronic power steering was replaced under a recall. If you do buy one, I would check and see if this has been done yet to it. I wasn't charged a penny for any of the recall work.

Motor and trans are excellent.
The front control arm bushings and swaybar links tend to clank around.
Build quality is not great interior trim pieces are flimsy but the car is economical and should last 200k plus miles with regular oil and filter changes.
Do change the trans fluid and filter before 100k
