My son just bought an 02 Eclipse with a 3.0 engine. It turns over but will not start. They checked it out and it is getting fuel, but it is not firing at all. They changed the distributor cap and rotary, still no fire. We borrowed a computer, to check for codes, and it said no codes. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks so much for your help.

I assume you already tried new cables and plugs also?

I asked them about that, and my husband said there is no fire at the distributor, no fire to go through the wires. Thanks for your help.

Not sure if those ones use a cam angle sensor or a crank angle sensor but that is what could be causing it to not send signal to the distributor to fire. Might be worth checking that out to see if one of those are bad on it.

Okay, we replaced the crankshaft position sensor today, and still no fire. We checked the compression and all were from 100-120. Thanks again.

100-120 seems very low, of course IDK what normal comp numbers should be on this motor.
