Mazda MX-5/Miata/Eunos.

Hi! This was my first attempt at cutting open a part of the body.

I then wet & dried it, and used putty my dad gave me.

It was also my first attempt at deepening panel lines.

And this is where I am now. I haven't painted the roof yet, and I'm just a bit wary of priming it yet because of the putty, I'm not quite sure what to do and if it'll stand out a lot in the paint? Any advice? :confused:

As I didn't want to leave under the boot just empty, I put some felt in to act as carpet. I'll think of something to put in there, but for now, I'm not sure.

The interior. Unfortunately, I had a malfunction with the gear stick and I'm working on either A) finding it (unlikely, I've spent ages looking around the carpet, by now I think it's a goner) or B) Working out something with one of my previous kits that never got finished.

Closer up of the interior. I'm gonna do the silver same as the photo above, trimming/fixing once the body is finished. Plus as I said above for the gear stick.

Newest update, took the wheels from an old Tamiya 155 that came out horribly (decals were wrecked, model was already half done when I bought it..)

Ended up that the 155 wheels wouldn't fit with the body. :S So I've reverted it back, and test fitted the body. It's yet to be lacquered. Note in these pics the wing mirror is broken, it's fixed now.

Looking good! I really like the color. These a fun kits to build. I like opening the trunk! Maybe print out some maps or magazines from the internet and throw them back there? That would give it a lived-in look very easily! If you can't find a shifter, you can always use a straight pin (like for sewing) with a round ball on the end, if it's close enough to the right size (some are huge, some are close). Just drill a hole in the shift molded in the pan, and snip the majority of the pin off, and slip what's left through the hole. Keep it up!

looking pretty good with that clear coat on, what paints are you using?
opening the boot is no small feat, but for future builds you might like to spend some more time sanding modifications you do to your kits, the boot area still appears to be quite rough here.

The paint was Tamiya French blue (first time using paint that wasn't for an actual car) and the Lacquer was just normal Acrylic Lacquer, I think. I used White Primer. :)

I will definitely be working on getting sanding etc. done on my next project, but before I do that (which will be an R33 Skyline) I will be doing a half project (started by my dad, never finished) Wallace & Gromit's Anti-Pesto van. (Austin A35)
