AM6 remote start malfunction

I had the AM6 installed in my Rav4 when i bought it new in 2008. I recently had hail damage repaired and when i got it back from the shop, the remote starter began to only work intermitently. I had the original installer reprogram it and he assured me it was fine. I continue to have the same problem and now the installer is telling me i need a new unit which will cost me $450. I hesitate because i doubt that adeqate troubleshooting has occured. I live in wyoming and i have to have the work done in Colorado because there isnt anyone locally. Any suggestions or ideas?

I had hail damage repaired a few years ago and they screwed up a lot of stuff too. Is the antenna fully extended ? Did the brain get wet ?

Thanks for the reply. No the brain didnt get wet and the antenae is fully extended. I did find out that the unit is still under warranty and if i send it back in to Directed they will replace or repair it. I can also buy a new unit on ebay for approximately $80. I will likely pursue it in summer when i dont need the remote operation in the warmer weather.
