Driver info center bench test 99 blazer

Does anyone know how to test a drivers information center for a 1999 blazer while it's out of the vehicle? I bought a dic fro a 97 bravada thinking it would be a direct replacement and it didn't work. i now want to test both the original and the replacement one to see if they really are dead.
