this car is going to be the death of me, now the power steering is leaking, there is a metal tube on the rack it goes from around the center of the rack to where the column comes into the rack and thats the one thats leaking. i looked on ebay to see if i can get one but it seems to be part of the rack, yet it can be removed.
it isnt very long and has rusted out.

would anyone have the name of the tube so i can call the part store to see if they have it.

It's a pressure equilizer tube and is usually not serviced seperatly from the gear assy. There may be one available aftermarket, I have not seen one though. Check salvage yard for a gear, maybe they'll let you just have the pipe?

They actually call them "Cylinder lines" left side and right side. There are two of them right? You didn't say what year you have.

its a 96 SSEI and i live in newfoundland and i dont have a salvage yard near me the closest one is 4 hours away and the car wont make it there. is it possible to to put a new tube on and flare it like you would a brake line.

Yeah, I'm sure you could. It's most likely a double flare, but I don't know what size the pipe is. You'd have to pull it off and match it.

Don't think it is the equalizer line.....that is usually just an air line(If an equalizer line is leaking fluid, the seals are so bad the rack needs replacement).....think he is talking about one of the two lines(inlet and outlet) into the rack......sounds like the outlet line ......

Yeah, that was my correction on my first post, the cylinder lines. I think he can make a replacement.
