Chevy/Geo Tracker need information

Hi everyone
I am looking to buy a chevy or geo tracker and needing information about them. First I am looking for a soft top 2 door that gets good gas milage to drive to school. A man I know told me to get the one with overdrive cause it gets better gas mileage. He said his did not have overdrive and only got about 19 city and 21 higeway. Does the 1. liter and 2. liter motors have much differance on gas mileage. Or is there something more I need to look for for the better gas mileage. Last what are the problems and issues to look out for when buying or owning one. Thanks Fiserman :confused:
