Netural Safety Switch 2002 XLT

Has anyone experienced a defective netural safety switch on their automatic transmission and what are the symptoms for failure??

It won' start in Park, or Neutral. Easiest way to test it it to put it in Neutral and see if it turns over. Another indication that the switch needs replacing is if the reverse lights don't come on in Reverse.
